Angielski dla Wymagających

Question Tags

Dzisiaj rzecz szalenie praktyczna w mowie, czyli pytania typu QUESTION TAGS.

Not a very good dinner, was it?
That's Tom, isn't it?
You do take sugar, don't you?
They promised to help us, did they not? (rather formal)

Ok, to teraz przykłady:

Present Simple:

You are hungry, aren't you?
She goes to school every day, doesn't she?
We don't need to do that, do we?

Present Continuous:

They are comming with us, aren't they?

Present Perfect Simple and Continuous:

You have bought the bread, haven't you?
She has been waiting for us for an hour, hasn't she?

Past Simple:

You told her, didn't you?
She didn't come, did she?

Past Continuous:

They were waiting all day, weren't they?
She wasn't cooking when you came, was she?

Future Simple:

He won't come, will he?
You will help me, won't you?

Modal Verbs:

They can't come, can they?
You should have told us, shouldn't you?

Ciekawe przypadki ;))

  • Question Tag do I am to aren't I (Nawet nie pytajcie dlaczego ;)):

I'm late, aren't I?

  • Czasami, szczególnie w brytyjskim angielskim QUESTION TAG może mieć wydźwięk rozkazu, szczególnie kiedy jest to: will, would, can, could:

Do sit down, won't you?
(Usiądź, proszę)

Shut up, can't you?
(Zamknij sie!)

  • Question Tag do Let's to shall we:
Let's start, shall we?

  • There tez może wystąpić w Question Tag:
There was something strange about her, wasn't there?

  • Pamiętajcie, że jeśli w zdaniu mamy przysłówek o znaczeniu negatywnym, to Question Tag będzie twierdzące:
You never say what you want, do you?
It's no good, is it?

Nothing happened, did it?

Natomiast jesli mamy nobody, somebody lub everybody, to w Question Tag będziemy mieli THEY:

Nobody saw you, did they?

  • Kiedy mamy czasownik have bez got, możemy użyć w Question Tag have albo do (w amerykańskim angielskim do jest normą):
You have the documents, haven't/don't you?

So you're getting married, are you? How nice!
You think you're funny, do you?

    Pozdrawiam
