Doctor, doctor

House, M.D. is a medical drama that ran on Fox network for eight seasons (2004-2012). The eponymous character is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie)- a drug-addicted, misanthropic medical genious. The drama was created by David Shore and the opening theme is Teardrop by wonderful Massive Attack

What's interesting about House is the fact that there are numerous similarities between him and the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. The creator of the series- David Shore says he has always been a huge fan of Sherlock. Both House and Sherlock are indifferent to their clients, both rely on deductive reasoning and psychology. Neither Sherlock nor House are willing to accept cases they are not interested in. Both characters play instruments (House plays the piano, the guitar and the harmonica while Holmes plays the violin) and take drugs (House uses Vicodin and Holmes- cocaine). Moreover, both have close friends- Dr. James Wilson and Dr. John Watson. Even House's building number is a reference to Holmes' address- 221B. Throughout the series there are many references to Sherlock and other characters from A.C. Doyle tales.

  1. In my opinion- in House more is from Socrates than from Holmes (even with companion of Willson). That's why I like House- he thinks much wider than any other. sorry for my english!
