Możemy używać do opisania czegoś brudnego, np. rąk, twarzy czy ubrań

Używamy do opisania pomieszczeń, np. pokoju, piwnicy lub ulicy

Uwielbiam przykład jednej z moich uczennic: James Bond is always as cool as a cucumber. ;)

Można użyć na dwa sposoby, mianowicie można powiedzieć że teren jest płaski jak stół - countryside is as flat as a pancake; można też opisać w ten sposób dowcip lub imprezę, wydarzenie które są nudne lub nie budzą zainteresowania: a party as flat as a pancake; The joke he told us was as flat as a pancake!

GREEDY to zachłanny, chciwy lub łakomy, żarłok, czyli as greedy as a pig to nic innego jak OBŻERAĆ SIĘ JAK ŚWINIA

być twardym jak skała; nieubłaganym i bez serca

we własnej osobie, osobiście

Chociaż wydaje mi się to 'zbyt delikatnym' tłumaczeniem, bo dammit to Cholera! lub Psiakrew!

Możemy mówić tak o budynkach (the tower is as safe as houses) lub np. o inwestycjach, biznesach (this business is as safe as houses)

bardzo bystry

as steady as a rock
można na mim polegać

as sure as I'm standing here
pewne jak dwa razy dwa jest cztery

as tough as leather/ old boots
Może to oznaczać albo TWARDY JAK PODESZWA lub TWARDA SZTUKA 
The meat is as tough as old boots!
She's as tough as old boots.

as true as steel
niesamowicie lojalny i godny zaufania

bardzo ciepło
